Position Description:
The Ohio Department of Public Safety Information Technology (IT) is seeking to fill a COLLEGE INTERN vacancy, to perform the following duties:
- Excellent opportunity for student with strong background in information technology (IT) to gain experience, increase software development skills, and become familiar with state government operations.
- The intern will assists or performs fundamental tasks using a limited/basic understanding of high-level programming languages(s) in support of application development as instructed or mentored by senior software developers or information technology supervisors; all work performed will be directed by detailed instructions or by being provided repetitive examples under supervision, programming will be done with ASP .NET, C#, VB, SQL, HTML, XML, or SSRS.
Acceptable working hours: 15 – 30 hrs/ per week possible depending on candidate’s class schedule.
Preferred minimum Qualifications: Experience in Information Technology with a focus on . ASP NET, C#, VB, SQL, HTML, XML, SSRS or Similar.

Java Programmer Internship
Bizwatch offices are in Worthington, Ohio. All postions must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per week, in two 5-hour increments at the office, and up to 2 hours from home on online research requested.
There are four internship positions open in January, as well as Spring, and Summer positions. We will also look for part-time programmers, and look to fulfill a co-op position in 2012.
All candidates must have:
- Strong mathematical, research, analytical ability and problem solving skills
- Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
- Strong ethics, integrity & honesty and ability to keep information confidential
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
1) Java Programmer – should have some Java, C++, C# or vb.NET programming experience (up to one year or internship experience where you were able to code on your own, or on a team) and willingness to learn Java programming.
- Learn, document and prepare detailed specifications for API Compliance Requirements (http://code.google.com/apis/adwords/docs/requirements.html), coding standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Codes, tests, debugs, implements, and documents complex programs.
- Creates appropriate documentation in work assignments such as program code, and technical documentation.
- Gathers information from existing systems, analyzes program and time requirements.
- Assists project manager in preparing time estimates and justification for assigned tasks.
- Assists support and/or project personnel in resolving moderately complex program problems. Works with client and management to resolve issues and validate programming requirements within their areas of responsibility.
- May be asked to conduct quality assurance activities of peers or superiors.
- Conducts research on Google, Bing, Yahoo, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn APIs and SOAP/REST organic APIs and other related industry technical and search marketing software and analytics development trends.
- Pay rate: $10-$15 per hour depending on experience, scheduling, availability

Should have knowledge of: 1) high-level language computer programming (e.g., dBase, Delphi, Pascal and UNIX) using object-oriented, top-down & structured programming techniques); 2) computer hardware systems; 3) algebra. Skill in: 4) operation of computer terminal and peripheral equipment (e.g., printers, modems). Ability to: 5) interpret variety of technical computer manuals and documentation; 6) write computer program & system documentation and instruction manuals; 7) communicate verbally on technical & non-technical matters; 8 ) cooperate with other employees & customers.
