As the Event Intern, you will be assisting in the coordinating, merchandising, and day-to-day operations of retail stores at both Ohio Historical Center and the Ohio Village.. Position requires weekends, evening holiday work. Essential Duties IncludeStore Operations· Analyze and measure business trends; develop and implement plans to maximize sales and meet or exceed goals and objectives.· Ensure appropriate merchandise stock levels, merchandise adjacencies and presentations; signing; and ensure selling floor is adequately stocked. · Coordinate retail events such as Book Signing Sales, Ohio Artisan sales, and Village General Store Events.· Assists with the Ohio History Store online operation.· Maintain retail customer and vendor database..Merchandising/Product Development· Assist buyer with researching, selecting and ordering inventory and selling merchandise items. · Coordinate and communicate inventory and merchandising needs to buyer and act as liaison with store personnel. Language Skills: Ability to communicate and work effectively both orally and in writing.Mathematical Skills:Requires ability to work with mathematical concepts such as statistics and probability and to apply such concepts.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. An ability to independently problem solve, switch quickly from task to task, and an ability resolve customer complaints in a cordial and respectful manner is beneficial.
This position is a part-time and a stipend will be paid after the completion of 200 hours. One semester or a two quarter minimum is requested. This position is rolling. The Ohio Historical Society is located at I-71 and 17th Ave, at Exit 111 by the Columbus Expo and Fairgrounds approximately 4 miles north of downtown Columbus.
