Part Time Logistics Intern

Overview:  Part time personnel will assist in all aspects of day to day operations across both truckload and intermodal divisions.  Daily duties will include order entry, track and trace, dispatch, and customer service.

24 hours per week (paid)
Shift: Saturday 0700 to 1900 and Sunday 1900 to Monday 0700

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  1.  Track and Trace – Track loads in transit to insure on time delivery.
    1. All customers
    2. Intermodal – Watch pickup and deliveries and track in transit as necessary
    3. Highway – Track all loads for status updates and update to customers
    4. Incorporate SP ONP tracking procedures
    5. Appointment scheduling for intermodal and highway loads.
      1. Specific to Heinz but would encompass other customers as needed
      2. Order entry
        1. Assist dispatch with order entry across all customers
        2. Customer support
          1. Address incoming customer service calls and emails in a timely fashion
          2. POD collection for freight forwarders
          3. Streamlite
            1. Assist with driver calls and customer support during the week
            2. Provide dispatch and tracking support on Saturday

Secondary Job Responsibilities:

  1. Dispatch – Train with dispatch group to provide support during busy periods and on the weekends
    1. Respond to various tenders sent during the weekend
    2. Loadboards –  Learn to  work all available loadboards and book freight accordingly to defined procedures
    3. Billing – Train with intermodal group to learn rail billing to assist with day to day needs
    4. Basic report creation – OCC updates to SP, etc

Skills / Traits:

  1. Exposure to transportation industry and various modes of shipping a plus
    1. Intermodal experience a definite plus
    2. Customer service experience with focus on written and verbal communication
    3. Sense of urgency and ability to prioritize requests
    4. Microsoft Excel

Marketing Intern
Ready to see how your skills translate to the workplace? You’ll be using your full range of abilities as you tackle a new strategic marketing effort. As the primary driver on this project, your goal is to take it as far as you can before the fall semester begins!

You will be focused on the implementation of a new strategic marketing campaign, including:
• Compiling a database that allows us to target information to the appropriate audience
• Creating processes for updating the database
• Designing a marketing plan/communications strategy that converts prospects into customers
• Creating collateral material that supports the marketing plan

You will also assist with other essential tasks:
• Refreshing existing marketing materials to support our brand and reflect our new visual standards
• Creating HTML email templates for company newsletters and other client communications
• Transforming a collection of existing documents into an attractive new client information package
• Assisting with social media efforts, including developing strategy and creating content
• Updating website content, including revising current copy and/or writing original copy
• Writing/editing, including newsletter articles or other company communications
• Assisting with advertising, including copy/layout/design

Hours and Compensation:
The intern will be asked to establish a routine schedule within the hours of 8:00 AM – 5:00PM, Monday through Friday, 20-40 hours/week as their schedule permits, at an hourly rate of $7.70. This will be a 10-12 week position, based on the selected candidate’s availability.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Must be comfortable working as a collaborative team member and independently.
• Candidates should possess excellent written/oral communication skills, organizational skills, flexibility, and resourcefulness.
• Layout/design experience is helpful.
• The position is open to any candidate who has the skills we need, but may be particularly suited to students pursuing degrees in communication, marketing, public relations, or business.

Checksmart Financial (Dublin, Ohio) is looking for a self-motivated, highly personable individual who has the ability to multi-task, communicate and follow through on a variety of projects.  The position will support the marketing department in the day-to-day activities, including supporting the field operation team, addressing customer inquiries, maintaining and updating the company website and many other marketing-related functions.
The individual must be proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint.  Graphic design skills and proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or other design applications are a plus.
