Position Summary: With the guidance and direction of the Human Resources Business Partner, the Human Resources Intern is responsible for assisting Air Force One’s HR team with recruiting, hiring, performance management, benefits, safety, and training initiatives.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Source, screen, interview and make recommendations to hire qualified candidates throughout Air Force One.
  • Maintains HR records including HR associate files, job descriptions, associate performance reviews, EEO Data and associate turnover.
  • Promote company values and enable business success through job design, recruitment, career development, performance management, training, talent management, and other human resource functions.
  • Maintains confidentiality of payroll and Associate information.
  • Prepares HR reports as requested by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
  • Performs other duties as requested by Management.

Qualifications:

  • Personnel and Human Resources – Knowledge of principles and procedures for recruitment, selection, training, compensation and benefits, associate relations, and HR information systems.
  • Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

Human Resources Internship

Compensation:   $14.72 – $17.91/hour, part-time

Company: Ohio Department of Medicaid, 50 West Town Street, Columbus

The Ohio Department of Medicaid is seeking a Human Resources intern with a desire to prove their critical-thinking and leadership capabilities through the support of strategic project efforts for the Director of Human Resources and a team of HR professionals.

Anticipated projects will involve advancement of Medicaid’s HR Delivery Metrics, Talent Sourcing and Acquisition, Leadership and Employee Development and Employee Relations/Diversity activities.

  • Under direct supervision, assists in special projects of value to the Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) program; provides Human Resources (HR) support to the organization; handles incoming calls and emails requesting assistance and answers questions on various HR-related topics; interprets, assists and advises employees and managers on routine HR procedures and policies; supports and assists in recruitment and talent management initiatives.
  • Conducts research & prepares reports on findings; writes, edits &/or tracks material content development &/or changes using applicable software (e.g., Word, Excel); creates and updates spreadsheets and other documents in support of assigned projects; provides reporting support for all HR related activities; maintains a high level of integrity and discretion in the handling of confidential information; partners with the ODM Intern program lead and participates in career events as an ODM representative.
  • Coordinates and assists Human Resources to deliver business strategies, programs and priorities (e.g., performance management, employee relations, culture management, talent review, staffing) with key business initiatives to drive a high performing organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned (e.g., completes special projects, maintains logs, records and files); provides support for the implementation and communication of various HR programs and initiatives; brainstorms ideas and participates in activities to strengthen the HR team; researches and summarizes best practices.

Position Requirements: Knowledge of office practices & procedures; agency policies & procedures*. Skill in operating personal computer & applicable software (e.g., Word, Excel)*. Ability to interpret variety of instructions in oral & written form; define problems, collect data, establish facts & draw valid conclusions; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports; gather, collate & classify information about data, people or things.

Travel required, as needed. Must provide own transportation. Or, in order to operate a state vehicle, you must have a valid driver’s license from state of residence.

The final candidate selected for this position will be required to undergo a criminal background check. Business Internships-Multiple/Ongoing

Intern Position Descriptions:

  • Administration: Learn how a museum operates and functions as a non-profit institution. Assist with administrative tasks and behind-the-scene work to explore what it takes to make a museum run.
  • Collections: Work with Museum registrars to monitor, track, and record the artworks in the collection as well as those traveling for exhibitions. Work with the archives and records of the artwork in the collection.
  • Exhibitions: Discover how galleries and exhibitions come together. This department manages the galleries, makes frames and cases, handles and delivers artwork, and more.
  • Curatorial: Learn about the artwork in CMA’s collection and how exhibitions are conceived of and developed. Work with the museum collection and traveling exhibitions researching information about art and artists. (Upper-class and graduate students only please.)
  • Learning & Experience: Connect with our visitors. Gain hands-on experience in front-end operations, public programming, school programming, or drop-in gallery experiences.
  • Development: This department makes connections with businesses and individuals through endowments, memberships, and donations. Help to keep the museum strong by building key relationships.

All internships are unpaid.

Schedules are flexible.

Internships are offered in the autumn, spring, and summer.

Legislative Internship

Specific Intern Responsibilities:

Interns will work on constituent services, research and analysis of legislation and public policy issues.  Both the Representative and lead staffer are attorneys.  The intern will work on press and communications and while there is some office/clerical work, the position is designed for someone willing to learn, grow, experience, and study the inner workings of the Ohio House.

Qualifications:

Interns are expected to be reliable, dependable and willing to learn.  We expect the intern to grow in the position and therefore it is ideal for any level of experience and interest in a wide variety of career fields.

Compensation: 

The intern will receive first-hand knowledge of public policy and the Ohio House of Representatives as well as making important career networking connections.  There are opportunities for paid positions depending on openings.

The Intern’s role is to assist the Volunteer Coordinator directly with administration and day-to-day operations of Volunteer Department.

Key Responsibilities:

Qualifications:

  • Education and/or Experience: Working toward a degree in Business Administration or Human Resources, Communications, Nonprofit Management or related. College graduate, experience with managing volunteers and administrative work desired.
  • Language Skills: Must have the ability to communicate accurately and clearly both orally and in writing with pleasant phone manner.
  • Mathematical Skills: Basic.
  • Technical Skills: Comfortable learning a new software program and working with Microsoft Office, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to work independently but ask questions when needed. Ability to interact with volunteers, sites, staff, visitors and partnering agencies.

Schedule:   10-25 hrs per week, Monday-Friday.  Some nights and weekends required for events.
